Guided by a lifelong curiosity for history and connection, Julia Reinert created The Lifestyle Historian™ to unify research, marketing, and storytelling into one practice. Across antiques, interiors, fashion, travel, and more she uncovers the hidden narratives that make brands and objects truly remarkable.

The Story Behind The Storyteller

The Lifestyle Historian™ began long before it had a name. For as long as she can remember, Julia Reinert has been drawn to the stories hidden in everyday life. Not just the history found in textbooks, but the history embedded in objects, rituals, traditions, and the way people move through the world. A well-worn teacup, a carved chair, a travel keepsake, a garment, a family recipe, a room arranged with intention, these were her earliest teachers. They revealed that meaning is everywhere if you know how to look for it.

That instinct carried her into a degree in Third World and Non-Western History at UNC Chapel Hill and later into graduate studies in International Relations, where she learned to interpret culture, identity, and memory on a global scale. She began her career as a newspaper reporter, uncovering the stories beneath the surface, and then spent more than twenty years in marketing, event strategy, and brand management across multiple industries. Whether working with nonprofits, lifestyle brands, corporate clients, artisans, makers, or design professionals, one truth remained constant. The most powerful work always began with a story.

In 2025, Julia transformed The Lifestyle Historian™ into a full-time consultancy devoted to cultural storytelling and narrative strategy. Her work extends beyond interior design, antiques, and the decorative arts to any industry where history, memory, and meaning shape how brands connect with people. These include tea culture, fashion, hospitality, travel, and lifestyle brands. She partners with brands of every size, from emerging businesses to global companies, and creates solutions that honor their goals, resources, and long term vision.

What makes Julia’s perspective different is not only her academic background or professional experience, but her belief that nostalgia and history are not luxuries. They are cultural tools that help people understand who they are, what they value, and how they want to belong. Today, she uses historical research, material culture studies, and narrative insight to help brands uncover their stories and express them with clarity, humanity, and intention.

This is her work. Not simply telling stories but revealing the ones that already exist and helping people use them to achieve their goals and build a modern legacy.

Vision & Mission

The Lifestyle Historian™ helps people and brands understand the past so they can create with greater depth, connection, and legacy.

Philosophy

History is everywhere. Every object, habit, and tradition carries a story. The Lifestyle Historian™ believes that honoring the past is not about looking backward but about weaving its meaning into the present. When we understand the lineage of the things we create and the cultural significance of the things we love, we move through the world with greater intention.

This is the heart of the brand: Storytelling for the Modern Legacy. Preserving the past by carrying it forward and connecting people to the narratives that make life richer, more human, and more beautifully understood.

  • “Working with Julia has been completely transformative. She helped me bring Heather Jennings Lifestyle to life, not just as a brand but as a true reflection of who I am. From shaping my voice to refining every visual and strategic detail, she guided me through every facet of the process with so much creativity, intuition, and heart. She understood how to merge my worlds, which include design, art, wellness, and astrology. And she was able to make it all live cohesively under one vision. I’ve worked with a lot of creative professionals, but Julia’s level of care and insight is rare. She’s the kind of collaborator who not only gets the work done but helps you become more confident and clear in the process. I can honestly say that Heather Jennings Lifestyle wouldn’t exist in this way without her.”

  • “As the new owners of a swimming pool and spa company, it was super important to get some marketing help to get us off the ground. Julia checked all the boxes for us. She helped us write a comprehensive business strategy, created monthly blogs, monthly social media captions as well as suggestions to enhance our website. Julia took all of this off our plate so we could focus on running our business. We couldn't do it without her.”

  • “True success in running a “solopreneur” business like mine means letting go of trying to wear ALL the hats, and finding collaborators who bring value, skill, and help save you time so that you can focus on the parts of your business you are best at. Julia has been just that for my small photography business. An important aspect of my marketing and how prospective clients find me is my website and blog. And while I had set a business goal of writing one blog post per month, I was continually not finding the time to achieve that goal. Thankfully, a colleague referred me to the talented Lifestyle Historian, and Julia has now stepped in to meet this very need for my business. Each month we brainstorm a blog concept, and then she runs with it. She conducts research, weaves my voice into the text, and includes SEO keywords that pertain to my business. Then she shares a beautifully written draft for any editing. Also, her background and passion for history has aligned well with my wedding photography business. For example, we have created some informational blog posts that are intended as guides for my clients who are seeking help such as wedding planning advice or are looking for recommended wedding venues for my region. A once daunting task has now been made easy, and with the skill of a professional writer with a background in marketing. Thank you Julia!”
